Revving up for NaNoWriMo 2018

As always, I participate in National Novel Writing Month in November. I am even a municipal Liaison for my Region way down yonder in the South of Alabama.

This year, I will be writing something new. A collection of Short Stories, hopefully each story will be approximately 1700 words. That’s 30 Short Stories.

And as most know, I write mostly Horror Genre…or a little smut. OOO…good times!

So I have my space for my group set up with dates and times for those wanting to write in a larger setting for conversation and help with any road bumps. We are even going to have a pizza party on Nov. 30, and I am putting together a gift bag for our writer that breaks the 50k limit and goes beyond.

The last two years have seen the group gatherings fall shorter and shorter, but will organization with the library, we have been able to get some good TV, radio and other promotional things going.

I may do a blog a day as well, just to vent any frustrations, give samples of what I am writing, etc..

So, keep alert for more prattling from me, the Queen of Rambling!

Love ya Darlings!

Back…for now…>_>

Hello everyone! Miss me??

Sorry I took such a long sabbatical. It was full of health issues, a little bit of travel, some little emergencies. I just havent been able to sit down properly and pull my thoughts together.

With November lurking around the corner, I will be all about NaNoWriMo 2018!

I plan on sharing some of what I write, just to get some yays or nays on how things look and sound.

This is just a shorty post to get things moving. I actually spent all morning with my servers tech support because there was an issue and I was not able to post at all, or this would have come much sooner!

Be on the look out, my lovelies <3

Howdy All…

I’d love to be able to tell you all is right in the world in Zoe-Land, but alas, it is not.

I was taken down by a terrible stomach/intestinal flu for the last few days. Today is the first day I have felt remotely like myself. It was horrible though. Absolutely horrible.

On top of that, three out of six of my kitty cats are sick with upper-respiratory infections. Quinn and Baxter are doing alright, but Spencer, my baby, isn’t doing that great. He had a trip to the vet yesterday for some steroids, antibiotics, eye drops and a ‘Camel Hump’ (IV solution placed sub dermally at between the shoulder and neck area to keep the baby hydrated). He is not eating, drinking or using the litter.

Today I found the poor little man laboring by breathing out of his mouth and drooling horribly, so back to the vet he went. Thankfully, it’s nothing as alarming as my heart and head seemed to make it. He has developed a sore in his mouth, hence the drooling, and he simply can’t breathe from his little nose being stopped up, so that’s why he is breathing through his mouth. The vet said to continue with the daily anti-biotic, try to temp him to eat some soft food or tuna that has been heated in the microwave just enough to make it stinky (if a cat can’t smell it, they won’t eat it) and keep watch over him.

Jeffrey has the sneezes, but he also has allergies, so that may be his reason for sneezing. He isn’t showing any other signs of being sick. He is grumpier than usual though. Sid and Seifer are just fine, however. We are attributing their good health to the fact that they are used to being outdoors, and have heartier immune systems.

Yesterday marked the midway point for NaNoWriMo. I am working really well on my writing, my word count grows every day. I will surpass the 50k mark well before the 30th.

On a more depressing note, as a Municipal Liaison, attendance at the libraries this year is nearly none existent. In the whole month, I have had one participant show for an event. I did note, however, that participation in my entire region is way down from previous years. People who have not participated in the group Write-Ins, but still wrote from home or work, updating their word counts, are not even participating in writing at all this year. Donations are way down. I had a long talk with the library director this evening about it, and he said numbers for their events are way down as well.

I have to mention here, that working with both the director and event planner here at the county libraries (this county has like 5 libraries) has been wonderful. These guys are so accommodating. They have helped me since day one of being a Municipal Liaison 3 years ago.

We are sort of chalking up everything to being ‘2017, the bad year for everything possible’.

Gaming news…there really isn’t any. I have been avoiding my game for the most part because I tend to lose too much focus on NaNoWriMo when I try to do both, as they are both writing based. My little character is slumbering with her hubby, being quiet for once.

Well, that’s our little game of catch up for now. I’ll try not to take so long before my next post, and will keep updates on Spencer.

Be sweet, my lovelies ~

Tats, Good Friends and Writing…

So, above you can see my two latest tattoos. I call them my zombknee’s. Mind you, they are still in their icky stage, right before the peel. Today, all I can say is ‘itch, itch, itch’ and ‘moisturize, moisturize, moisturize’. They itch so badly. And I had to wear pants today instead of my usual shorts because I had to adult.

However, when adulting, someone needs to speak up and remind me that that doesn’t mean I can get away with wearing a white shirt. Yes, said shirt now has a food stain on it. ~facepalms~ What makes it so irritating is that it was my final bite…right before I put my left overs in the to-go boxes. ~cries~

Said food stain came from an awesome afternoon with a wonderful friend. I had met her online years ago on the NaNoWriMo website Regional Forums. We didn’t meet face to face until the next year when I volunteered to be a Municipal Liaison. Since then, we have met, had Write-Ins and enjoy nice little sneak away lunches just the two of us.

We usually indulge in an Indian food place down in Dothan. I don’t think anyone else in my house enjoys it, so it works for me for getting a little variety. Today I actually tried a different appetizer and entrée. Go me for trying new things!!

Today I tried the vegetable fritters with two different chutney sauces, and my entrée was Butter Chicken. I usually have Samosas and Beef Biryani. I was pleasantly surprised with my choice. And my friend really helped me a lot, because decisions are not an easy thing for me when trying new things. She knows what is what, how spicy I should go, and explained what true Indian curry was. It was great. And we had great conversation. Always a good time with her, and hopefully she will be able to get back to her writing for NaNoWriMo. We both have been feeling the lulls in our work.

I am undecided on what I am working on for NaNoWriMo this year. When updating my novel page on the website, I placed up a book series I have in my head. Its erotica. Now, however, I am leaning toward a short story compilation of brand new stories. I love doing compilations. My only issue is sometimes I get sidetracked and my theme goes off the rails. I want to do a horror/thriller compilation. I have a ton of good ideas for that in my head, and it may be easier for me to focus on several smaller chunk stories than working on what will become a series of books.

Decisions, decisions.

Well, that’s all for now, darlings…be sweet!

So, thus far I have raised a whopping $21.00

I’ve been pushing the social media, and just dont know what I’m doing wrong, or not doing at all. Well, other than mostly everyone I know is broke.

Just to clarify this non-profit fundraiser, I am working toward raising $300 for the nonprofit behind NaNoWriMo. As soon as I’ve raised at least $300.  If I raise $425 I can bring a friend. I know someone who would love to attend.

Mind you, fundraising money doesnt come to me, it goes directly to NaNoWriMo.

I’m also responsible for getting myself a roundtrip flight and hotel for the night.

So, if possible, toss a few bills my way. I’ll reward you with stories, from horror to smut…>_>

Love my sweeties!

Little love – Fat Cat spoke to me.

So, something unexpected happened the day before yesterday.

As you can see from the pictures, I have a new kitteh in my life. I believe with all my heart my late Fat Cat guided all this.

I took Jeffrey to the vet to be …well…snipped. Nothing unusual happened. Dropped the grandbaby off to get snipped, went home, wrote for my NaNoWriMo word count…

Later in the day I am called by the vet to picked the poor de-nutted Jeffrey back up to bring home. I go…as I am waiting for them to fetch him from the back, I noticed a HUGE cage in the receptionists office. And then a little tiny movement.

Well, me being so nosy asked what was in such a big cage. Honestly, I thought it was a ferret squiggling around in the blankets.

The staff at the vets office know me too well. TOO WELL. The two girls smiled. They looked at the silver pendant I wear around my neck that has Fat Cats ashes in it. They say… “Now, Miss Zoe, we know you are still grieving, but hold her, give her a hold.” They proceed to produce the little orange angel you see above.

My lip quivered. I held her. The first thing she did was lick my lips and start purring, curling into my hold. Then she started playing with Fat Cats pendant.

The girls told me that earlier that day, a woman had come in with a box of kittens, five of them, acting like she was there to get them a check up. It was the busiest part of the day for the office. Before they knew it, the woman was gone, but the box of kittens was just sitting in the waiting room unattended. She had never given them any information on herself. She just left the kittens in all the commotion of the lunchtime hour.

The kittens were all checked and stuff, making sure they didnt have any contangions or illnesses. Most of the staff adopted the kittens straight off.

Two hours passed between the last kitten being taken and me showing up to pick up Jeffrey. No one else had taken an interest because she seemed ‘too plain’ in appearance, though she is SO playful and friendly.

Then Fat Cats doctor came out. He placed his hand on my shoulder and told me ‘its not too soon, you know.’. I lost it. I cried. The girls behind the counter cried. The doctor cried.

Jeffrey hissed and growled. But, some of that was pain, I do believe.

So, here I am with a new kitten.

I present you all with BaxterMarie. She exhibits so many of ChesterAnns (Fat Cat) attributes. The way she likes to cuddle in my arms. They way she kicks me off my own chair. The way she lets me know what she wants or needs.

Since bringing her home, she has chosen a favorite toy. Its a little fuzzy/glittery purple ball. She is fiercely protective of it to the point that when she plays with it, she growls the entire time and never bats it too far from herself. When she pounces it, she holds it protectively for a moment before playing again.

Jeffrey is warming up to her. They play chase, sometimes he gets a little too rough. And, because he has to show his dominance, he steals her ball and plays with it. Keep in mind, he has NEVER shown an interest in this ball ever before. He has his own favorite toys which he has hidden from her.

So, I have a new baby.

I am happy with my little love.

SHE LIVES!!!….sorta….

YES! I LIVE!!!!

I tell you, these past few months have been ass-kickers. The loss of my beloved Fat Cat, my big sister getting married. Whew.

The weddings was WONDERFUL!!

Even the part where I fell off a bridge into a sand dune and lay there yelling ‘HO DOWN!’…and that was BEFORE I started drinking. ~face palms~

It was a really great time. Beautiful service. My sister was radiant.

So, I was super busy, and didnt mean to be gone from the blogging world as long as I was. My buddy Patricia told me I needed to dust the thing off a bit. I love getting email from you all, I really do! Always puts a smile on my face!

I am totally immersed in the coming NaNoWriMo Event this year. I was made a Municipal Liaison and working with the NaNo staff, we restructed the previous years Regions into something a little different. So, instead of just two areas that were without Liaisons in previous years, we combined the two, and added two more counties to the mix.

I have found the libraries in most towns are more than happy to help in the event, as well as some local businesses. I have been busy coordinating meetups and write ins, as well as preparing fun little things for the events and parties.

I feel accomplished and proud. I really hope we get a larger participant community build in comparison to previous years.

The role play world has been treating me decently. I have a character with a mad crush on another, and it looks like he just may be returning those feelings. Exciting. My other character, well, she is as weird as always. No one likes dealing with her, so I dont get much writing time with her anymore. My alternate character seems to be garnering more attention, so the shift from main and alt just may change.

The other game? The strictly vampire one? Well, I log into the grid to move, feed, steal …and thats pretty much it. I havent even visited the role play forums for that game in ages, as no one writes with me anymore, and I’ve played that character for 13 years now, I am having a hard time focusing on new material to write solo for her.

Home life is good. Little Jeffrey is turning into Big Jeffrey and its almost time for his lovely ‘family jewels’ to be removed. The daughter is doing good, other than hating the fact that she is currently out of work. She’s doing great on obtaining her secondary degree, and is looking at two different schools to obtain her Bachelors in Paralegal Sciences. She is adamant that it be an ABA school, of course, and thats the smart thing to do.

I miss my Fat Cat every day. And I’m sure my friend Patricia is missing getting random emails and text from the old cat. No, Patricia, I will not give Jeffrey my passwords. 😛

So, my darlings, I have missed you all!

November will be busy, but I will Ninja on you every so often!

~smooches~
