November 2016 Day 20

nano-and-nablo-banner

Well, here’s todays little snippet from Book Two: The Path of Redemption.

Fight scene! Hells yeah! Remember, all unedited thus far…

A rumbled chuckle echoed through the cave. “All those fancy warriors and they send you in here? Or is it that you missed me and wanted more?” He slowly stood, turning to face her, the fire illuminating his features. Trapped in human form he was devilishly handsome. Tall, muscular, tousled black hair and a crooked smile. But his scent gave him away. There was no hiding that. And his eyes. The changing red and amber. His aura flickered around him. Very much uncommon for a demon.

Addison’s grip on her sword tightened.

He opened his arms, seeming un-threatening. “Aw, come now… is this any way to greet a friend? What would the Baron think of your manners, eh, lil bird?”

She winced at the moniker.

He put his arms down, shedding the jacket he had on, pulling a large dagger from his belt. “Well, if you aren’t going to grace me with that Southern hospitality and charm, then let’s get down to business.” He then snarled out.

Her silence obviously unnerved him. “I’ll have you squirming and moaning under me before dawn, lil bird. You might have a bunch of Templar wards protecting you, but I don’t need to shift to tear your sweet little ass apart.” He hissed.

Addison had heard quite enough. Her pale blue eyes lightened as she brought her sword up to herself, almost as if she was offering it to him. She gripped the hilt in her left hand and pulled the saya free, letting it fall to the stone and ice floor at her feet.

The demon grinned, crouching slightly, his blade at the ready.

Addison lowered her sword to her side. Gripping it with both hands as the blade pointed downward, coming past her thighs. She was making ready for an upward swing as she took off in a full charge. The demon chuckled, taking off from his position to meet her in this dance.

She swung upwards, her blade catching him across the chest in a vertical slice, penetrating deep into flesh and muscle. Addison didn’t go unscathed either, however, as his dagger sliced through her side. She didn’t relent. She didn’t have that luxury. She spun gracefully. Her sword coming across his shoulder, cleaving through bone as his dagger embedded in her thigh. She grit her teeth, and he growled loudly, his deep voice vibrating through the ice beneath her.

She hopped back, distancing herself a bit, pulling his dagger from her leg and tossing it aside. Now he was weaponless. That didn’t mean he was defenseless. He was strong, even trapped in human form.

He was still talking. Growling. Mocking. But he was bleeding, and that was good. Addison’s eyes watched as his dark blood stained the ground beneath him. But it wasn’t enough. She still wanted more.

She blocked out everything he was saying. Tuning him out, only hearing the rumble of his deep voice and the heart beating in his chest.

She charged again, bringing her sword upward as she had before. This time slashing opposite, leaving an ‘X’ cleaved into his flesh. The ice was slippery under them; they were too close to his fire. She didn’t expect him to grab her up by the neck so quick, tossing her like a rag doll into the cave wall before tossing his weight onto her.  From his boot, he pulled a small folded knife. He flicked it open with his thumb before sliding it deep down her face, from forehead to chin, blinding her right eye.

The pain was excruciating, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of hearing her voice it. He loomed over her, bringing his tongue over the wound. His saliva felt like acid as he chuckled, tasting her blood across his tongue.

November 2016 Day 19

Since there is no BlogHer prompts on the weekend, I thought I’d fill you in on my PAIN. No, really. Yes, lots of pain, but persevering.

I’m listening to a meditation mix on my media player – subtle wind chimes with ocean waves and rain with light thunder. So relaxing.

The cats are on a rampage today, using anything as a springboard, including my chair and me.

I haven’t work on NaNo yet today, but you have been tracking my word count meter, you’ll see the past couple of days have been low in the word count. I can’t concentrate when in pain. I am going to work later to work on one a chapter.

For today, however, you will get a snippet of one on the first chapters in Book Two ‘The Path of Redemption’.

And here we go…hope you enjoy…

“I look for versatility in warriors, for compassion in friends, for the spirit in lovers. You managed to fuse this, so I think you warranted more.” One thing he did not like about the Jeep was the damn separation in the seats. Moving an armrest to have her beside him would have been much more fulfilling. “Grandpa and Dad taught me most, my mom taught me cooking, some Tantric prayers, and about her Shinto arts.”

“I like things spiked a lot if I’m going to drink; I usually want the buzz to dull things when I do. So absinthe, Everclear, or those potent types – like moonshine – for me work best.”

She smiled again. “Mmm… Absinthe… I forgot about that one… haven’t had it in ages.” She said in a soft tone, letting memory serve her the taste.

She toyed with her sword between her knees, sliding her hands over the smooth saya. “Cooking…haven’t a clue on how to do it. I don’t even remember the taste of food. I have memories of things I enjoyed, though, like shrimps, jambalaya, and steak. I just don’t remember the tastes anymore. Just memories, like faded feelings.”

Her eyes looked down at her hands. “My mother didn’t like me much. I mean, she loved me and all but left me with the nanny to raise. She resented me, I think because I was a difficult labor and delivery. I ruined her insides. She couldn’t have any more children after me. My Papa on the other hand, tended to spoil me. However, no one treated me as well as Neeta. That was my nanny. When I killed everyone on the plantation, I spared her. She died a nice old age, natural death.” She said, a little sorrow touching her voice.

“I’m tired of this life.” She then said, out of nowhere. “I don’t want to die or anything; no no no… I’m tired of the loneliness. I never lamented my darkness, but there are things I would prefer to have in its stead.” She said, letting out a small sigh.

She then lifted her face, turning her pale blue eyes to the Templar. She looked him over. He was sexy sitting there driving. An extremely handsome man indeed. She offered a small smile.

“Are we there yet?”

“You’ll get used to food again pretty quick. It gets boring again fast.” The story of her mother was sad. It also did give insight into why it was so easy for her to slip into the darkness if she felt unloved. He resolved that she would never feel that way ever again. “I’m sorry, hon. I wish I could take that away from your mind’s pain, but what I can do is let you know you are loved now and will always be.”

November 2016 Day 12

nano-and-nablo-banner

Well, my word count for NaNoWriMo is climbing daily, even though I only managed 1669 words this morning. I am in pain so bad from my back. This spinal surgery, though I dread it, is not coming along fast enough.

So onto other things. BlogHer doesnt give prompts for blogs on Weekends, so I thought I give you all a sneak peak of Book Two.

I present you a excerpt from Book Two ‘The Path of Redemption’ – mind you this is a raw cut. Enjoy!

Jabril traced her soft lips as she had fallen asleep, feeling the warmth within his heart. It was amazing how this dark, devious little beautiful creature had captivated him. She had snared him, and his heart, in such a short amount of time. Both had been conflicted on what they had wanted, what they had needed, and yet, despite what either had said, here they were. They had gone through so much together in a short amount of time. They had shared so much. It was amazing that it was just out of nowhere. He had believed that he would never allow anyone into his heart again, not after his lost love, his betrayer. And Addison had longed for love, someone to let into her heart, someone to depend on and help keep her from tumbling over that edge of insanity. There was something about Addison, this little beast that she was. Jabril smiled as he watched her sleeping form. She did, in fact, just try to bring the genocide of an entire city. So much destruction, even though she had been trying to correct some of it.

But now Jabril knew the why and what in her motivations. He could help her. He could set her lose to gain vengeance.

There was a demon out there that he had a slow, painful, tormenting death in mind. On further thought, he considered binding it as a slave summon. Sending it back to hell, only to make it ‘summon bound’ to the summoners will.

No. He couldn’t take this away from Addison. It was up to her how this demon was to meet its end, despite Jabril’s wish to handle it – to save her.

She needed saving from herself, not the demon.

There you go! Just a nibble!

Be sweet, my lovelies!

My summer vacation…

Rpih9

Well, I know I just sort of disappeared and fell off the Earth.

I AM BACK!! MWAHAHAHAHA!! ~ahems~

So, where did I go and what have I been doing?

First, I’m sad the Zombie Apocalypse hasn’t happened yet. I’M WAITING!!

My moms and pops traveled all the way up here to sunny, hot and humid Southern Alabama from Guatemala to take care of some important things, such as social security, banking, and renewing their retiree military IDs.

While here, my aunt also came into town, along with her hubby and one of my cousins.

We all had a great time. Can we say POOL PARTIES!!! And, it was my moms birthday while they were here, so that was another celebration!

It was a really great time, and an escape I needed.

I also got myself a gym membership! I adore Planet Fitness.

With all the fun in the sun however, I managed to get myself a bit of sun poisoning. It wasnt too bad, but annoying nonetheless.

My sister also came to visit. We always have a great time when she’s here.

My bestie (LP) and I are plotting world domination…I mean planning on her coming to visit me over here on this side of the States. Beware all.

I managed to catch a cold somehow, and was miserable for a week. Blah. Still recovering.

My furbabies are all doing great. All happy cats.

My daughter is doing AWESOME! She found herself the most AWESOMEST JOB EVER!! She is still doing all her normal paralegal stuff, but she works from home, making a buttload of money. She has only been with the Firm about 3 weeks, but they love her, and she has proven to be a perfect fit. Maybe she will look towards actually going to law school beyond her paralegal degree. A mom can hope.

So, July marks the starts of another Camp NaNoWriMo, and I’ve set myself at a pretty low word count. Short stories once again, sort of like dipping my toes into the waters once again.

I have been sharing some of my ~ahem~ smut stories with a fellow writer friend in my local area. She shared some of hers with me as well. She likes what I’ve got and wants to see more, so that is motivating me quite a bit to publish some of the 13 erotica novels I have, after getting them edited and getting cover designs. My erotica collection will be E-Book only.

November I plan to get back to my roots on the original task of finishing up the continuation of my first published novel. It seems intimidating right now. GRAH.

In my gaming and role play world, I have gone back to my original game, sort of testing the waters there to bring my character back into society once again. And in the other, well, today, actually, I had planned on bringing those characters out of their self-imposed exiles. So, writing will be had, and maybe even a character death. GASP!

How have you all been?? Send me comments, email, what have you…I know its only the 1st of July, but how has everyone been??

Oh, yeah…my broken foot is finally healed…I think…haha. I mean, I havent done anything to break it further. YAY!

Also, let me give a shout out to Patricia, who once again has lifted my spirits by sending me a little care package of loot! LOVE ALL THE STUFF! <3

NaNoWrimo: Week One Down…

NaNo-2015-Participant-Banner

Well, we are at the end of week one of NaNoWriMo and I’ve reached the halfway word count. I still have tons and loads and buckets of ideas for upcoming chapters.

My editor is going to hate me. She knows I completely suck at grammar and tenses (passive voice and such).

I hosted my first Write In today as well. It was GREAT!! Not many people, but a fun few. We chatted, listened to plots and snippets, laughed and wrote.

And then there was the moment I was eyeing up the emergency door. Yanno…just to hear the alarm if I opened it. I thought of it as a zombie apocalypse drill!!! NEEDED!!! EDUCATIONAL!!!

Next week is another write in, followed by our Midway party/event. I’m totally looking forward to it.

My book is coming along well, seeing as I’ve avoided it for most of a year…lol. Hopefully I’ll get it out sometime in the beginning of next year. If my editor doesnt hunt me down and kill me with a red marker. >_> ~sends love to her~

Alright my darlings, Zoe deserves a fresh coffee!

~squishes~

OH!! P.S.:  I won first place with one of my characters in the Roleplay of the Month!! Yayness!! If I get permission from the other player, I will try to post the story here.

NaNoWriMo 2015 Day 1

12003962_813721105403029_7843548424985179534_n

Well, NaNo kicked off pretty well for me this morning. I got up at 7am (which, anyone who knows me knows that that is sort of like my bedtime) and I wrote for a few hours. I only posted a word count of 2525 words, however, despite the fact that I had actually written more.

I also wrote a lot of little RPs for one of my games. My characters were at a Halloween Ball and now its winding down, the final posts are to be made tomorrow.

I met an amazeballz woman at the NaNo kick-off event last week and we’ve been trading texts. She sent me some music to look up and listen to today… I ended up sending her like the names of four others I had found.

I havent quite figured out who is going to be  the bad influence in the relationship. I vote her.

In other news, I rearranged my office some and bought two new, very much needed, bookcases. The short ones, so I could have eye level pictures on them.

I put those bitches together myself. Colorful metaphors abound! I managed to do it all without hurting myself, too! Not even a bruise! Go me!

I have to take pics of my lovely office and post them. Its so homey and charming.

I napped a lot today. A lot more than I should have. I have this darn head cold thing. Though, its more like allergies. I’m always sneezing and snotting. Lovely visual, huh?

Well, I am bound and determined to be at Dakotas here in town tomorrow. Its so much easier to focus on writing and not pilaging around on Pirate Bay and YouTube and Facebook. Why? Because my laptop is getting old and dying slowly. I cant open webpages without waiting like, 15 minutes, for them to open. I dont have the patience for it.

But my Word program works just fine!

So…tomorrow…write, write, write!

~squishes~

Hosting my 1st NaNoWriMo Event: The Kick-Off

a1d913ec-8fee-4470-ab03-568f2731fbb6_zpsgwsdwpdd

So yesterday I hosted my first of many NaNoWriMo events. The Kick Off party.

I think it turned out great, with more people showing than I had thought.

One of the greatest things was meeting people face to face that I had only talked to via the NaNo forums and mail. Everyone was absolutely incredible.

We chatted about writing and NaNo, past events, plotting, genres, and, well, just loads of stuff.

We even have 3 little ones there. Two second graders and one third grader. They are brother and sisters, so they will be working on their NaNo project together, which will be amazing for them.

Thanks to our library system we will have future party events and write-ins, which are bound to be fantastic.

I think I handled myself pretty well, I didnt commit any homocides, and I didnt run anyone over with my truck on the drive home (it was dark, I dont like driving in the dark, then factor in road rage >_> )

So, this NaNo season is kicking off with a great start. We are already prepping for the end of NaNo party, well, the secondary one, for grown ups only. (Bring on the booze!)

With NaNo kicking off on Sunday, I plan on finishing a 1000 (no more, no less) short story I have been working on, and GAMING! In my current favorite game, my characters are in a masquerade party. Its a community event on the forum, and no one knows what character is posting as who, so, basicly, you are dressed up. I have to have my final posts posted to the thread by 11:00PM on Halloween. There will be little forum prizes and stuff, I just joined in for the fun of it. I hadnt participated last year, and came up with some clever costume ideas for my characters, so…yeah.

Once Sunday hits…I will once again be living in my coffee shop, because there are too many things distracting me here at home. At the coffee shop, on my laptop, I am limited, because my poor laptop is running so crappily that opening browsers takes forever…hence, I wont be gaming. I’ll have media player running, my headphones on, and my word document open. And my HAMMERHEADS!!! My sweet sweet hammerheads that only my girls know how to make just the way I like them.

So, my sweets, I will give updates here and there. Hopefully, after NaNo and some chopping and adding, and sending bits and pieces to my editor and beta readers, we’ll have a Book Two to be released before Summer/Fall of next year!! Woooo!

Be sweet, my darlings!

~squishes~

SHE LIVES!!!….sorta….

12106736_820701521371654_839116878266797855_n

YES! I LIVE!!!!

I tell you, these past few months have been ass-kickers. The loss of my beloved Fat Cat, my big sister getting married. Whew.

The weddings was WONDERFUL!!

Even the part where I fell off a bridge into a sand dune and lay there yelling ‘HO DOWN!’…and that was BEFORE I started drinking. ~face palms~

It was a really great time. Beautiful service. My sister was radiant.

So, I was super busy, and didnt mean to be gone from the blogging world as long as I was. My buddy Patricia told me I needed to dust the thing off a bit. I love getting email from you all, I really do! Always puts a smile on my face!

I am totally immersed in the coming NaNoWriMo Event this year. I was made a Municipal Liaison and working with the NaNo staff, we restructed the previous years Regions into something a little different. So, instead of just two areas that were without Liaisons in previous years, we combined the two, and added two more counties to the mix.

I have found the libraries in most towns are more than happy to help in the event, as well as some local businesses. I have been busy coordinating meetups and write ins, as well as preparing fun little things for the events and parties.

I feel accomplished and proud. I really hope we get a larger participant community build in comparison to previous years.

The role play world has been treating me decently. I have a character with a mad crush on another, and it looks like he just may be returning those feelings. Exciting. My other character, well, she is as weird as always. No one likes dealing with her, so I dont get much writing time with her anymore. My alternate character seems to be garnering more attention, so the shift from main and alt just may change.

The other game? The strictly vampire one? Well, I log into the grid to move, feed, steal …and thats pretty much it. I havent even visited the role play forums for that game in ages, as no one writes with me anymore, and I’ve played that character for 13 years now, I am having a hard time focusing on new material to write solo for her.

Home life is good. Little Jeffrey is turning into Big Jeffrey and its almost time for his lovely ‘family jewels’ to be removed. The daughter is doing good, other than hating the fact that she is currently out of work. She’s doing great on obtaining her secondary degree, and is looking at two different schools to obtain her Bachelors in Paralegal Sciences. She is adamant that it be an ABA school, of course, and thats the smart thing to do.

I miss my Fat Cat every day. And I’m sure my friend Patricia is missing getting random emails and text from the old cat. No, Patricia, I will not give Jeffrey my passwords. 😛

So, my darlings, I have missed you all!

November will be busy, but I will Ninja on you every so often!

~smooches~

Feeling Sassy!

So, one of the things I did with my away time last month was revamp my hair.

ERMAHGERD!!!!

IT’S NOT PURPLE ANYMORE!!!

I’ve gone back to a stripey red and black. I’ll get some pictures soon. Lately I’m lucky if I take my hair down from its ponytail, so you all will have to wait on a good hair day and plenty of make-up before ya see this gal! 😛

The colors came out perfect though. I mean, its not like I havent done it before in the past. I used to reserve my purple hair color for the winter months, and the shocking fire engine reds for summer. I’ve been adding streaks of black for the past couple of time just because it gives it a cool look.

Tonight you’ll be in for a treat as well.

Not just one short story, but two!

One is actually based from one of my gaming characters point of view. Mind you, all the names have been changed on the other characters, but this was sort of like my own character venting a personal frustration.

Anywho… I havent been placing pictures up with my entries. I just havent found suitable ones.

Camp NaNoWriMo is going well. I am maintaining a good daily word count, and come November I should be on track for getting this second novel done and shipped to the editor.

So, until later…be sweet ya’ll!!

IT'S ALIVE!!!

11169805_906721309401912_5657696235654663399_n

I’M ALIVE!!!!!

And highly caffeinated!!!

I’m so sorry I had to take some personal time away. It was much needed to help my daughter overcome a tragedy in life, and for us to do some bonding.

I also took some time to myself this past weekend and went to visit my sister. I had an awesome time. I think I turned my laptop on once in the whole four days I spent with her down at the beach (she lives on a boat).

Oh, and all my frolicking in the beautiful sunshine and water has given me a sunburn from Hell. Well, its healing now. Rather, its peeling now. Its very gross. However, I am not all white and splotchy under the peeling skin…nice and golden tan. Yay!

I am taking one more weekend to myself before I get back to work.

My best friend of 12-13 years is here from out West. She’s staying with some family in Georgia, only about an hour and a half away from me, so I’ve rented a hotel room and we are packing up and heading out yonder way tomorrow and will return Sunday, when she flies back out West.

I’m SO excited to see her. Its been a few years now, and the last time we saw one another in person my health was so crappy, I couldn’t do anything fun.

In other news, apparently Fat Cat had taken advantage of my being away and having fun at the beach to get on my computer and email and text my friend Patricia. ~nods~ Patricia emailed me and told me all these complaints Fat Cat had lodged against me. GAH! My evil cat is plotting against me!

1551535_10152175305989441_1919137253_n

The face of a conspiring Fat Cat. I now have to password protect all my stuff!!

~shakes a fist~

So when this weekend concludes, I have some writing to share, and it will be back to work on daily writing and working on my novel once again.

The daughter is doing great, getting lots of comfort and support and is throwing herself in to her work. We totally need to get her a new car though. ARGH. Oh, and my beloved truck is acting funny…I need to get it back into the shop.

Well, I am being glared at menacingly by Fat Cat who commands treats at this time. I live to serve.
