My most favorite place in the world to visit. New Orleans, Louisiana. The Crescent City, the Big Easy.
I absolutely love it there. Not just because I love all things voodoo and low-country, but because its just an exciting place. The people are friendly, the food is fantastic and there’s so much to do.
If you ever get to be in NOLA for Christmas Eve, check out a local restaurant for Reveillon. Its a tradition in NOLA, a wonderful 3 to 5 course meal. Not many places are open for Christmas Eve, but if you find the right ones, despite it being a little pricey, it is well worth it.
Bourbon Street. Yes, the main attraction. Its loud, its busy, it smells. You can find some good little hole in the wall places if you look past the bright lights and harkers. Restaurants and pubs that arent too loud or crowded.
Always catch a Ghost Tour, Cemetery Tour and Voodoo Tour. They are chintsey, but fun. And you do learn a lot on them.
Dont forget carriage rides. Again, you can learn a lot of local history.
The Trolley. You can get an all day pass and go everywhere at your own pace.
I hang out in the French Quarter, naturally. You can find me in the voodoo shops or open air market talking shop with someone or another.
Many will come to see that New Orleans is a common place in my books. I know the history, I know the city. Its easy to write a place you know so well, especially one with so much history and color.
Oh, and one last thing. Get a Grenade. Its a drink. You wont be sorry. 😀
